I provide childcare and support services which includes assisting with educational assignments, transportation, support during activities, assist the parents with teaching different tools and techniques to help their child manage anxiety and cope in various situations, and observe the child during activities.

I answered phone calls and provided assistance to clients calling in. I coordinated with New York Life staff regarding insurance policies and assistance with completing applications and turning in all necessary documents. I assisted clients and the agent with ongoing needs regarding any open policies. I set appointments and provided follow up assistance after appointments. I reviewed applications before they were submitted to troubleshoot and ensure all information was correct.

I worked specifically on the behavioral health team. My focus was on assisting members with more intensive behavioral health needs like children and adults in need of psychiatric hospitalizations, long term care, intensive in home services, and alcohol and drug services. I followed with facilities to identify needs of members discharging home and coordinated to ensure the appropriate services were set up prior to discharge from one level of care to another. I followed up with members to review the benefits they had and to ensure they were getting all needs addressed. I was all assigned various provider meetings to attend to advocate for members with more intense needs. I also did meetings with providers to serve as a liaison between the insurance company and the provider in order to problem serve to minimize any issues. I completed daily documentation documenting all phone calls and any visits held.

I met with clients and potential clients to present insurance options. I completed applications and communicated closely with clients and New York Life home office. I completed various marketing activities in order to identify potential clients.

I worked a variety of positions with the organization including Intercept counselor, Transitional Living Supervisor, Regional Supervisor, Regional Manager, Assistant Director, and Director of MS programs. My first role was providing intense, supportive counseling to children and families to help children with significant behavioral needs remain in their home. I was on call and would work with families and children in their communities, schools, and homes. In my supervisory roles, I oversaw day to day program operations in various programs including Transitional Living services for young adults ages 18 to 22, therapeutic foster care, intensive in home services, and MYPAC (a Medicaid program created to serve residential level youth safely in their homes. I met with supervisory staff to review cases and to create plans to address any safety concerns. I provided support to staff. I met frequently with state level agencies including Medicaid and the Child Protective Services. I ensured that regulations were followed in compliance with company standards and in accordance with contracts with Medicaid and CPS. I also supervised marketing staff and staff responsible for completing certification packets to initiate services and when more time was requested. I created and reviewed budgets and monthly billing for all in home programs served in the state of Mississippi. I traveled frequently to all local offices to offer support and hands on observation of services being offered.

I was a mental health case manager for the community mental health center and served on the child and adolescent team. I primarily worked with youth who had been at the Henley Young Detention Center that were identified with concerns regarding mental health needs. I completed home visits, met with detention center staff, reviewed medications with caregivers, created ongoing treatment plans and goals, collaborated with therapists and psychiatrists also see if the families, and helped youth meet their goals to increase success in their homes, schools, and communities.
