Accomplishments

Successfully lead the third grade teachers in the effort to get out school improvement by developing teacher made reading, language, and math tests to match the district pacing guide and the state objectives for the MCT2 tests. Helped increase third grade students' overall test scores in language arts from 37% in 2009-2010 to 47% in 2010-2011.
• Selected to serve as lead teacher ten of the nineteen years while employed with the Marion County School District.
• Chairman of the school courtesy committee for three years.
• Inspired a class of third graders to raise almost $5,000, which was donated to the local chapter of the American Cancer Society for Relay for Life.
• Provided staff development sessions to teachers on writing tips and strategies to help students with the MAPP writing prompt.
• Actively engaged students in a collaborative effort to publish their own hardback books, while learning about the writing process and gaining a sense of pride and accomplishment.
