  • Created the Long Beach Basketball Team Camp hosting 30 teams from across Mississippi, Louisiana, and Arkansas. 120 games were played in 3 days across 3 gyms on our campuses. Tasks included scheduling, hiring officials, and workers for concession stands and clocks. I collaborated with our tax-exempt booster club and coordinated with local hotels, restaurants, and Gulf Islands Water Park to provide discounts.
  • Increased a booster account tremendously raising several thousands of dollars per year.
  • Traveled to various camps throughout June: Pensacola, FL, the University of New Orleans, Mississippi College team camp, and Copiah Lincoln team camp.
  • Took select players to participate in position camps and the Elite Skills Camp at the University of Southern Mississippi for exposure and skill development.
  • Coached middle school teams to increase continuity and participation.
  • Middle school teams had quality victories over Biloxi, Picayune, Central Gulfport, Bayou View, and St. Martin (once 32 to 0).
  • Created a Bearcat Madness event pep rally to help create exposure and build excitement for all our winter sports. We involved nearly 200 participants and several hundreds of fans attend. We collected and gave away door prizes, had scrimmage games, and contests. The National Guard, Army, and several community colleges were in attendance to toss out T-shirts. We also collected around 300 canned good items in lieu of admission to give to a local food bank.
  • Created a Bearcat Basketball Media Guide with advertisements, individual photos, player profiles, and team information.
  • Won the girls class 5A region 8 golf championship two years in a row. One of my players earned Clarion Ledger’s “All State” team in 2019.

  • Five former players have received scholarship offers to play college basketball, one a NAIA All-American honors and then led her team in most stat categories when transferring to Div II West Alabama. Other players I’ve developed received offers from Jackson State, Meridian CC, and SWCC.

  • Created the “Tiger Program” basketball media guide which highlighted our players and raised public awareness of our girls’ and boys’ teams.
  • Created an event called Tiger Madness and collected over $2,000 worth of door prizes given out to several hundreds of fans. Community colleges were in attendance to toss out t-shirts.
  • Started a McLaurin Basketball camp for 3rd – 6th graders. (Summer 2012)

Accomplishments

  • Built 8 week Fall Basketball League from the ground up, with 60 participants and $3,000 in revenue. This league ran from August until the beginning of October.
  • Created a week long fundamentals Basketball Camp for 3rd-6th graders. There were over 60 participants and 15 workers in this camp that ran from Tuesday through Friday after Memorial Day.
  • Brought in $5,000 in seasonal ad revenue by creating a 30 page informational sports media guide which highlighted our basketball teams accomplishments and player information
  • Named “Coach of the Year” Region 6-3A in 2013.
  • Achieved 19-9 record in 2015-2016 season.
  • Five former girls that I was a head coach for received scholarship offers to play basketball. One was a 2013 Dandy Dozen selection by Clarion Ledger. She went on to earn All-American honors and Hall of Fame Honors at Belhaven College before transferring to West Alabama. Other players received scholarship offers from Jackson State, Meridian Community College, and Southwest Community College.
  • Created a three-day high school and middle school camp for two consecutive seasons in June. Over thirty teams participated from three different states. I coordinated with local businesses to provide team discounted prices for entry to Gulf Islands Water park, negotiated hotel fees and provided discounts to restaurants in the area. I created a website that updated all camp information including location, scheduling, facility information offering services such as laundry drop off. This project included creating matchups and scheduling officials for over 120 games in three different gyms. I was responsible for assigning workers for concessions stands, gate workers, and clock workers. I coordinated this project with our school's superintendent, building administrators, athletic director, parents, and sponsors. This three-day project brought in over $15,000 into our program and brought a lot of enthusiasm for the Long Beach community.
  • Collaborated with Long Beach Middle and High School administration and our winter sports coaches to involve nearly 200 participants in the development of Bearcat Madness. This event raised public awareness and created excitement to kick off our winter sports season. Community colleges including MSGCCC and National Guard representatives, and public officials were in attendance to show support and toss out tee-shirts. We collected over 300 canned goods in leu of admission from students to give away to the Long Beach Food pantry. This night raised several thousands of dollars to go towards the basketball program to help with yearly expenses and travel.
  • Planned and organized a Major Golf Tournament called the "Gator Invitational" that hosted 18 schools. The event had representatives from Mississippi Gulf Coast and included several sponsorships and handouts to participants and their coaches. I coordinated with Hickory Hills Country Club, State Farm, community colleges as well as several organizations to provide gift bags, tees, and golf towels for the athletes. This was a MSHSAA sanctioned and digital scoring was incorporated to give up to the date information displaying the leaderboard through the iwannamaker digital scoring app. The duties included coordination with high schools, setting pin locations, pairings, creating and going over local course rules with 84 golfers, ordering trophies, and sharing the results with the media among many other responsibilities.
