I am a compassionate, empathetic person who looks to bring joy and comfort to people around me. I believe that I have a natural skill for connecting with people, and I look forward to opportunities that allow me to do so.
In this position, I taught the middle school Sunday school class, helped with setup and cleanup of all youth and general church social functions, printed youth church bulletins, and helped organize church-sponsored outings (baseball games, hockey games, etc).
In this position, I ran the casual bites bistro. This involved retrieving pre-cooked items from the main kitchen when I arrived to work and placing them into the appropriate warming dishes upstairs. I also baked fresh cookies each day, served residents the pre-prepared meals, make milkshakes, served ice cream and coffee, and made pizzas. I made sure that all of my dishes and utensils were washed and restocked each day, and I made sure that I held the bistro to a high standard of cleanliness. One of the best parts of this job was interacting with the residents, hearing their stories, and providing them with companionship. Additionally, there were several times when I was brought into the main kitchen area in order to wash dishes when the kitchen was without a hired dishwasher, or was short-staffed for some reason.
Each week, I volunteer with Home Under the Dome, our church’s ministry for individuals for memory loss. I’ve passed the examination and received certification from the American Caregiver Association.
