Additional Experience
While working as a substitute, I wasn’t simply called in. I was there everyday, teaching students in the proper subjects while also showing them life lessons to develop a sense of urgency to get their lives planned and ready for a promising future. Many students looked up to me and respected me more than many teachers because their behaviour wasn’t seen as a mistake. It was instead a learning experience that could teach them about how to improve themselves without being told how by someone else. To hold themselves accountable and change their lives in all the ways they choose to, properly.
While at Ashland High School, substitute teaching, not only did I teach the life lessons needed for young minds, I coached two sports while there. One being archery, where I was an assistant coach. The students learned ways to deduct their own ways to improve by reading their arrows and the target. To reduce the amount of areas their arrows would land on the target by counting the rings or adjusting their knock-points. The other was esports, where a group of very dedicated students challenged each other to learn and hold each other accountable as well as challenging me, the coach, to make them better. Every session we made it to playoffs and even top three teams out of the entire state. Those students respected me. Saw me as a role model and a friend. Still in a teaching and professional way.
