Work History

Charge Technologist

University Of Mississippi Medical Center, UMMC
09.2021 - 04.2024

I am the charge technologist performing routine chemistry, urinalysis, hematology, and lab processing. I perform manual differentials on complicated leukemia cases and processed bone marrow biopsies. As the charge technologist I was responsible for inventory and ordering supplies for all sections. I am experienced with Excel, Word, Workday, and Epic. I assist my manager with staying up to date with our CAP regulations and keeping up with our internal safety guidelines. I deal with fellow employee issues, quality control, and customer service towards our patients, providers, and nursing staff. Training new staff and teaching students is also a large part of my job also.

Medical Technologist-Core Laboratory Supervisor

Merit Health River Region
09.2020 - 09.2021
  • When I started at River Region my job responsibilities included monitoring the registering of referral and clinic patients
  • While checking that those patients are registered correctly I also check that all tests have been ordered correctly
  • These duties lead directly into billing issues that come up which I troubleshoot and resolve
  • I also take care of all esoteric testing that is sent to our referral lab, Quest Diagnostics
  • Resolving all items in RevID is a daily duty of mine, and I also order all phlebotomy supplies
  • I am now the Core Lab supervisor over the Hematology, Coagulation, Urinalysis, Chemistry, and Processing departments.

Lead Tech of Reference Lab

University of MS Medical Center
03.2014 - 09.2020
  • At the reference lab at UMMC we sent to over 20 different labs
  • As a tech I processed, ordered, packaged, and shipped samples
  • We also researched rare tests that providers requested, and dealt with genetic testing
  • Due to the nature of the testing many of the tests had to be manually billed which introduced me to the billing aspect of the lab
  • I kept data on miscellaneous testing orders for tracking purposes along with monthly QA
  • I became responsible for keeping track of all invoices for the reference department and, in turn, was asked to find ways to save money at the University Lab
  • I was invited by my director to serve on several committees to help UMMC save money so we could better serve our patients.

Medical Technologist Pavilion Lab

University of MS
09.2009 - 03.2014
